The Maze of Bones written by Ethan Young

Minutes before she died Grace Cahill changed her will. At her funeral, chosen members of her family were given a gold card with the choice to either take one million dollars or a clue.

The Cahill family had been influential throughout history and Grace wanted that to remain. She chose the family members that were most likely to succeed in the mission. The mission could lead the winner to power if they succeeded and nothing if they lost. The four branches of the family included such remarkable people as Benjamin Franklin, Marie Curie, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Buzz Aldrin. This family must continue as they have had an enormous impact on history.

The story follows a pair of siblings, Amy and Dan, who both love their grandmother. Amy and Dan knew that Grace would have wanted them to accept this challenge, so they begin their adventure with the first of 39 clues.

You may remember this 10-book series when it first launched in 2008. Each volume was written by a different author, Rick Riordan, Gordan Korman, Patrick Carman, Linda Sue Park, Margaret Peterson, Roland Smith, and more. Each author is well-known and successful in their own right. This series sparked a trading card frenzy and an interactive internet game. Book sales were over 8.5 million with copies in 24 different languages.

Scholastic has now brought this successful series back for a new generation as a graphic novel. The first title, The Maze of Bones, has the siblings follow the clue that leads them on a dangerous adventure to Philadelphia and Paris, and hopefully the next clue. The artwork captures the excitement and danger to make this an exciting page-turner for grades 3-7. Follow along on the excitement, mystery, and adventures of the series The 39 Clues.

Book available for purchase on 7/1/2023.
