Summer Reading planning takes time. Each year’s themes create
an opportunity for librarians to brainstorm fun ideas for programming in the
library, as well as choosing books to match the Summer Reading theme (that kids
will want to take home). Penworthy has created two collections – Every
Book is an Adventure and Read,
Share, Repeat – on our website to support your 2024 Summer Reading Program.
Look for these collections to browse titles that would relate to your Summer
Reading theme.
The Collaborative Summer Library Program theme for 2024 is Adventure
Begins at Your Library. This is perfect for introducing kids to adventure
books, both fiction and nonfiction. Grab books that inspire kids to try new
things, such as cooking, fishing, crafting, and more. Plan an activity in your
library where kids plan an adventure, it can be real or imaginary. How about a
train ride to the past? Or a spaceship to the future? The possibilities are
endless! Check out our Every
Book is an Adventure Collection, to see all our titles that relate to the
2024 Collaborative Summer Library Program theme: Adventure Begins at Your
Library.

The iRead Summer 2024 theme, Read, Renew, Repeat, is
focused on conservation. The conservation movement focuses on protecting
species from extinction, maintaining and restoring habitats, enhancing
ecosystem services, and protecting biological diversity. The iRead Summer theme
is a great opportunity for kids to learn about their community and its
conservation plan. Talk with your local parks and services for additional
information. Talk about ways kids can reduce and reuse materials, such as creating crafts with items found in nature. Have fun
reading books with an ecological theme or read books on extinct animals (such
as dinosaurs).Don’t forget
to share your favorite books and then repeat. The possibilities are endless –

Share, Repeat Collection, to see all our titles that relate to the 2024
