Stinetinglers written by R. L. Stine
Stinetinglers is a collection of 10 short stories by the
master of scary tales, R. L. Stine. Each story begins with an introduction from
Stine, telling readers his inspiration for the story.
Each story is designed to scare, the
events in the story really can’t happen, can they? But as Stine writes in the
introduction, “You know that tingle you get at the back of your neck when you
begin to feel afraid. Your skin turns cold and the little hairs stand on end.
Your heart pumps and your teeth begin to chatter…I hope these stories bring you
to a place where the cold tingle becomes a scream.”
The 10 short stories are grounded in
the present age, cell phones, smart watches, and Netflix appear. In the first
story, time stops when a boy drops his Christmas present, a new smart watch and
the battery pops out. Next, a babysitter watches children that are really
monsters. The next story is about a jokester who constantly plays tricks on his
friends to scare them and gets locked in a creepy house. Will anyone save him?
This collection is perfect for readers
who love a good scare and those just beginning to test the genre. Each story is
approximately 20 pages, great for a quick read. And even better, this is just
the first book in a new series. This series begs to be shelved along with Goosebumps
and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. It will quickly become a library
favorite.
Beware: you might be sleeping with the
