Big Nate: The Gerbil Ate My Homework

When I was a kid, I loved the comics. So does Nate. In fact, he is absolutely appalled that most of his classmates do not share his passion. This is just one of the reasons that this collection of Big Nate comics is an awesome book for kids and for anyone who enjoys the antics of sixth graders.

In this book, we see Nate break up with his girlfriend, a seventh-grader, because she keeps making him do only the things she wants to do and only with her friends. He realizes he misses his friends and doing the things he enjoys, hence the breakup. He complains about hos other kids sign his yearbook. Upon realizing he’s forgotten to do his homework just as it’s being collected, Nate decides to enlist Sherman, the class gerbil, to come to his aid, inspiring the title of the book. The list of Nate’s virtues and foibles continues throughout the book’s 173 pages, introducing us to his friends, his family, his teachers, and his interests along the way
.
