Lois Lenski Bookmobile Grants Available

Does your library offer a bookmobile service? If so, you may be eligible for a grant through the Lois Lenski Covey Foundation. Ms. Lenski, author and Newberry Medalist, had a lifelong dedication to ensuring that children everywhere had access to books and as such the foundation offers grants to libraries for their bookmobiles serving children from disadvantaged populations.
According to the grant website, “The bookmobile grant
program provides grants for purchasing children’s fiction or non-fiction books.
The books are to be available for checkout by young people for pleasure reading
or, perhaps, as a source of information for a school assignment.” Grants range
from $500 to $3000 and are only to be used for purchasing books, not for
operational or administrative expenses.
Applications are being accepted now, and can be found, along
with complete application instructions, on this website. We wish you luck on getting
a grant for your bookmobile!
